Role & Responsibilities
I got my first hands-on experience with designing for Mahalaya in the December 2022 Issue. My role was assisting the editor-in-chief and collaborating with the Mahalaya team with the layout design. More essential responsibilities were establishing rules in InDesign, including paragraph/character styles, master pages, and grid creation. Implementation of these rules helps set up for future success and put Mahalaya in a position to scale its designs.
Tasked with using archival photos and present-day photos, I created a collage showing the persistent battle for Filipinx rights dating back from 1942.
Work was published in Vol. 1, No. 7.
Collage featuring portraits of Luis Gaerlan Jr. Composition consists of a recent march to juxtapose with archival photos.
