Mahalaya Editorial

Mahalaya is a community newspaper founded by Casey Ticsay in 2022. Powered by a staff of dedicated volunteers, this monthly publication centers Filipinx voices and experiences in and beyond the Bay Area.

Layout Designer is my main title at Mahalaya. I help organize the compiled assets and manage each issue’s design for print publishing.

Katipunan Editorial Spread

Katipunan is a cultural club located at the College of San Mateo, most known for being the first Filipinx club to be introduced to the San Mateo County College District. Katipunan seeks to elaborate and teach its members the importance of one’s culture and taking pride within an inclusive environment.

For this project, I interviewed the founders of the club, took photos, and wrote the article. I designed and organized the spread’s content, putting emphasis on the culture surrounding the amazing club and its members.

BRIDGEGOOD Inclusion

BRIDGEGOOD is a nonprofit organization that seeks to assist creatives from all backgrounds and allow them to work in design and tech. Previously as a UX Design Apprentice, my team and I designed a feature for the BRIDGEGOOD site. The BRIDGEGOOD Inclusion feature provides resources to creatives who want to further educate themselves on inclusivity and accessibility, and how to incorporate these ideals into designs and in everyday life.
